Synagogue Bombing Suspect’s Arraignment Date Is Set

| May 5, 2011

Ron Hirsch, who has been linked to the explosion that occurred last month at the Chabad House Lubavitch, has been named by a Los Angeles federal grand jury in a four-count indictment.

Hirsch, who is in federal custody, will be arraigned on the indictment in a U.S. District Court on May 23. He faces four federal charges, which could put him behind bars for up to 70 years. Previously, it had been reported that the maximum penalty would be a life sentence.

Last month, after being arrested in Cleveland Heights, Hirsch waived his right to have hearings in Cleveland and opted to have them moved to the U.S. District Court Central District of California, where a criminal complaint had been filed against him. Hirsch was due to remain in federal custody until he appears in court in California on an undetermined date.
