Tambourine-playing suspect raises ruckus at church, gets Tased

| July 1, 2012

EDMOND — An Oklahoma County deputy Tased and arrested a combative tambourine-playing trespasser at an Edmond church, a sheriff’s office spokesman said.

Wednesday evening at about 7 p.m. an off-duty Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office deputy was told by staff at Victory Church, 1515 N. Kelly Avenue, that a woman was causing a disturbance with a tambourine in the building, said sheriff’s office spokesman Mark Myers.

After staff asked the woman, who was not a member of the church, to leave, an off-duty deputy working security at the church also asked her to leave, Myers said. Again she refused, he said.

When the deputy walked the woman outside she tried to re-enter the building, Myers said. At one point she staggered and her speech was slurred. During an altercation she was combative, Myers said.
