A teenage girl has been arrested for attempting to set a Sacramento County church on fire, according to authorities.

Sacramento Metro Fire department have arrested a 15-year-old girl for attempted arson of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saint off of Hazel Ave. and Cherry Ave. in Orangevale.

The girl allegedly told investigators she set the church on because she "hates the church and worships the devil". The girl’s mother says when she dropped her daughter off at church this morning for religious education, her daughter was fine.

This is the same church that was attacked last November by vandals upset for the passing of Proposition 8. The vandals spray painted "No on Prop 8" onto the outside of the church, according to LDS church officials.
