Teen to be tried as adult in killing

MEMPHIS, Sept. 8 (UPI) — A 16-year-old accused of stabbing and killing a Memphis school principal will be tried as an adult on first-degree murder charges, a judge has ruled.

In Shelby County Juvenile Court, Special Judge Herb Lane found Eduardo Marmolejo competent to assist his attorneys and forwarded first-degree murder charges against him to adult court, The (Memphis) Commercial Appeal reported Wednesday.

During breaks in the court hearing Marmolejo smiled and muttered rap lyrics as deputies repeatedly hushed him, the newspaper said.
