Teenager Charged In Fire At New Hope Baptist Church in Winston-Salem

Winston-Salem, NC– A teenager is in a juvenile detention center charged with intentionally setting a church fire.

Capt. David Clayton, with the Winston-Salem Police Department, tells WFMY that they arrested a teenaged male. He was officially charged on September 29.

Clayton said the boy is charged with setting the July 6 fire at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in the northeast part of the city.

Clayton said the arrest came after a thorough investigation and interviews of people in the surrounding area, who helped develoop a lead that ended in this arrest.
