Three Heroes Stop Vicious Attack On Church Grounds

| December 11, 2011

HONOLULU — "She fought pretty hard, but he had her to the ground pretty quickly," said Joshua Riley as he stood on the grounds of the First Church of Christ, Scientist on Punahou Street in Honolulu.

"It just happened so fast," he said.

It was 1:30 Wednesday morning.

Joshua, along with his friends Noel Krasomil and Danny Garbe were in their apartment off Punahou Street watching TV, when their lives turned into screenplay.

"It's kind of surreal," said Garbe.

Suddenly from across the street they heard the screams.

Josh ran out first, and then his friends followed.

Right on the front lawn of the church:

"The man had this woman wrapped up in his arms, squeezing her, and she was screaming bloody murder," said Krasomil.

During the daytime, the area is a bright, open space with plenty of traffic going by, but at 1:30 in the morning Riley said the area is very dark and there's hardly anyone around.
