Too early to call latest fires arson says ATF

| February 10, 2010

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) – There has been a lot of movement Wednesday in the investigation of the latest East Texas church fires. Agents have left the scene at Dover Baptist Church, which burned on Monday night.

The on site work at both Dover and Clear Spring Baptist Church has wrapped up, but ATF, U.S. Marshals, Texas Rangers, and the Department of Justice are still working to put an end to the fires.

KLTV was allowed inside the command center in Athens, where three of the churches burned down. The command center is also handling viewer tips and phone calls. They say while the site may be clear, there is still work to be done.

Right now, ATF says it is still to early to call the fires arson, but they still say they are suspicious.
