Travel Warnings Ahead of the Spring Holidays

| March 25, 2012

The upcoming spring holidays (Passover, Independence Day and Lag B’Omer; especially Passover) are liable to provide incentive for terrorists around the world to attack Israeli and Jewish targets abroad. Against the background of a series of terrorist attacks and attempted terrorist attacks since the beginning of the year, Iran and Hezbollah are stepping up their efforts to perpetrate additional attacks.

As in every year ahead of Passover in particular and the other spring holidays in general, the National Security Council Counter-Terrorism Bureau offers its comprehensive and updated list of travel warnings (Hebrew).

Please note the severe travel warning for Sinai; the heightened travel warning for Turkey; the increased threat of attacks by Global Jihad in Africa, especially Nigeria, the Sahel countries, the Mahgreb area and the Horn of Africa; and status of Lag B’Omer in Tunisia (Djerba) as a possible target.

The NSCCTB has opened a (Hebrew) Facebook page specifically for travel warnings.
