Trial for man accused of defacing Olney synagogue set for Feb. 22

The trial for a homeless man accused of vandalizing an Olney synagogue and two private residences last summer is scheduled to begin Feb. 22 in Montgomery County Circuit Court.

Ian Jacob Baron, 23, formerly of the 18600 block of Rolling Acres Way in Olney, is charged with two counts of malicious destruction of property over $500, two counts of malicious destruction of property under $500, one count of defacing religious property and one count of race/religious property damage, according to online court records.

If convicted, Baron faces as much as 10 years in jail and $16,000 in fines.
