RICHMOND, Calif. (KCBS) — Two teenagers were shot during a church service in Richmond Sunday afternoon.

Sergeant Bisa French of the Richmond Police Department says there were about 100 people inside the New Gethsemane Church on Roosevelt Avenue near 21st Street.

Witness say three suspects entered the church and started shooting at members of the congretation," she said. "This does appear to be a targeted shooting."

French says witnesses describe the suspects as African American men who wore hooded sweatshirts and jeans. She says the victims, a 14-year-old and a 19-year-old, are expected to recover from their injuries.

French says the gunmen appear to have been targeting someone in the church, although the shooting does not appear gang-related.
