Vandals Shoot Into Church Building

| September 6, 2013

The congregation at Blue Springs Baptist Church in Cleveland, TN is keeping the faith, even though they're facing a massive repair bill because of vandals.

"Take your gun to a gun range if you want to shoot, don't shoot into a building," says church administrator Mark Wells.

In all, there's 14 bullet holes in this congregation's new home.

But even so, the faith of members at Blue Springs Baptist Church remains solid as a rock.

"We'll continue to serve the same Lord that we have in the past," says senior pastor Richard Snyder.

They'd hoped to open their doors next month. Now, the pastor says it'll take extra weeks or maybe even extra months longer.

"You think, who would want to shoot an empty building? And you hold out hope that it wasn't a target act of a church," says Snyder.

Back in December, the church bought the property from Bradley County. It used to be Blue Springs Elementary School's gym. But the April 27, 2011 tornadoes damaged it beyond repair.

Just weeks ago, workers finished converting the gym into a sanctuary.
