Volunteer church youth leader accused of sexual assault

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) –  A volunteer youth leader at a Dauphin County church has been arrested on charges he had sexual contact with a girl over the last three years, starting when she was 12.

Joshua Mitchell Markelwitz, 26, of Enola, was charged Friday with counts including rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor, and disseminating photo/film of child sex acts, according to Lower Paxton Township police.

Police said the girl, now 15, told them the incidents occurred at her home, in Markelwitz's car, and at the Charlton United Methodist Church where Markelwitz was a volunteer youth leader.
