The Illinois man, Gregory Arthur Weiler, charged with allegedly plotting to fire bomb 48 churches in the Miami area in October is awaiting a competency evaluation. This delayed the preliminary hearing scheduled for Dec. 3 for the charges of Possession of Explosive, Incendiary Devise, Simulated Bomb to Damage, and Violation of the Oklahoma Anti-Terrorism Act to 9:30 a.m. on Dec.17 in Ottawa County District Court.
Special Judge Bill Culver remanded Weiler to the Ottawa County Jail until he can be transported to Eastern State Hospital in Vinita for the psychological evaluation. Weiler is being held without bond as previously ordered.
The 13th Judicial District’s Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Ellis told Judge Culver in court Monday that the paperwork for the requested evaluation had been processed.
