White powder scare at North Dallas synagogue

| May 19, 2012

DALLAS — A hazardous materials team was checking out a white powder scare at Baruch HaShem Messianic Synagogue in North Dallas Saturday morning.

Police said two men were seen scattering 12 mounds of white powder on the parking lot and along the sidewalk of the religious center at 6304 Beltline Road.

A witness spotted the men and confronted them. The pair reportedly said they were "preparing for a race."

That response perplexed authorities, who were trying to track them down.

Before the powder was determined to be non-toxic, the area was cordoned off as the mounds were removed by personnel wearing protective suits for further analysis.
