Witnesses describe deadly megachurch shooting

SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. —  For the first time since a deadly shooting at a south Fulton County megachurch last month, church members are describing the horrifying ordeal.

Billy Mackin and his wife said they watched as a gunman approached a stage at the World Changers International Church and shot another man leading a prayer service. The victim, 39-year-old Greg McDowell, died from his wounds.

"He pulled something out and that's when I noticed it was a gun, and he started to shoot," Diane Mackin told Channel 2's Tom Jones on Friday.

Her husband added, "Greg finally fell. Once he finally fell, then he (the gunman) came over and shot him again."

The Mackins said the shooter then looked into the audience and fixed his gaze on a church worker who plays the music.

"He looked around for him, got off the stage and stuff, started walking toward him. He broke and ran, ran around the pews and stuff," Billy Mackin said.
