Woman arrested in purse snatching case

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Virginia Beach police arrested a woman wanted for stealing purses from churches and private schools on at least four separate occasions.

Benita Sue Sulton, 49, with a last known address in the 200 block of West 28th Street in Norfolk, was charged with two counts of credit card theft, two counts of grand larceny, one count of credit card fraud, and one count of obtaining money by false pretenses, police said. Further charges are pending.

On May 3 and May 12, police said Sulton targeted the Eastern Shore Chapel on Laskin Road. Then on May 10, she is accused of hitting the Star of the Sea School.
