Woman ‘feared rape and death’ as raiders targeted parochial house

| February 26, 2012

A Donegal priest has said a woman who was cleaning a parochial house during a burglary two days ago feared she would be raped and murdered by the three armed robbers.

The break-in happened on Wednesday evening at about 7.45pm, after Burt parish priest Father Gerry Sweeney left the house to celebrate Mass in a nearby church.

Three men broke into Saint Aengus parochial house and demanded that the woman, who is in her 50s, tell them where the safe was located, and its code.

She had arrived earlier in the day to help tidy up after construction repair work.

Fr Sweeney told Highland Radio the woman had a terrible ordeal.
