Woman Pleads Guilty To Theft Of Thousands From Local Church

WACO (November 22, 2010)—Patricia LeDawn Poehls, 39, who now goes by the name Rylie Joe Trish Wilson, pleaded guilty Monday to theft over $100,000, but under $200,000 in a case involving the theft of tens of thousands of dollars from a local Catholic church.

A pre-sentencing hearing was ordered and a hearing was scheduled for Jan. 18, 2011.

Wilson was indicted in March.

The charges stem from the theft of about $120,000 from St. Jerome Catholic Church where Wilson worked as director of religious education from February 2004 to June 2008.

Prosecutors said the theft came to light when a local business called the church to inquire about an account.

Christian R. González, director of communications for the Diocese of Austin said earlier this year the church had insurance that covered most of the theft.

González said the church on Chapel Road, which was founded in 1982, serves about 900 families in Waco.
