ANGELUS OAKS — A 60-year-old woman was shot and killed at a religious campground in the San Bernardino Mountains.

It happened just before noon Monday at the Camp Cedar Falls Campground & Conference Center.

Investigators say the victim was a guest at the Christian camp on Highway 38, which is owned and operated by the Southern California Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

Angelus Oaks resident Leith Hamilton, 30, was arrested soon after the incident on suspicion of murder.

Friends said he was working at the camp as a handyman.

It's believed the two knew each other prior to the shooting, said sheriff's spokeswoman Jodi Miller.

Anyone with information is asked to call sheriff's Detective Scott Cannon or Sgt. Frank Montanez at (909) 387-3589.
